Soil & Water Merit Badge
Designed to meet most of the requirements of the Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge, however, some requirements may not be completed in class. With outside work, the participants can finish with the counselor by email. Bring a sack lunch, no food is available on site. The program is free, the regular Park Entrance Fee applies for all vehicles. Please bring exact cash or check or display a valid New Mexico State Parks annual pass/permit. Pre-registration through a responsible adult's email is mandatory. Membership in Scouting is not required; however the program is geared towards Scouting Badge Requirements. Email robert.smith@emnrd.nm.gov to sign up. Space is limited to 12.

Enjoy a guided walk with a Ranger and learn about the park flora and fauna. Plan on walking approx, two miles roundtrip on an easy to moderate trail. Followed by an activity led by a Girl Scout Leader. Learn about and possibly join the Girl Scouts of America. A $10 per vehicle day use fee is required upon entry for non-New Mexico residents. Please bring exact cash or a check, or show a valid New Mexico State Parks annual pass or permit. Free entry for New Mexico residents!

Join the Clovis Astronomy Club for a night of star gazing on September 13, 2025. This will take place in the visitor center parking lot at dusk. Regular entrance fees apply for non-annual permit holders. All ages are invited to attend. No pets will be allowed at this event. Bring your binoculars, telescopes, red lens flashlights, etc. if you have them and enjoy a night of learning under the stars. **NO animals allowed at this event**

Nature Walk
Enjoy a leisurely exploration of the bosque ecosystem with a naturalist guide! The mostly flat, sandy trail is about one mile round trip and the walk lasts about an hour and a half. We recommend that you wear a hat and sunscreen and bring water. This walk is appropriate for adults and children. Meet your guide just west of the parking lot by the bench and bulletin boards. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Friends of FRGNC members enter free with valid permit displayed.

Water for Life - Film Screening
[SPAN] Acompáñenos a la proyección gratuita del documental "Water for Life" para celebrar la Semana de Conservación Latina. La película destaca a tres defensores del agua en Chile, Honduras y El Salvador. Después de la película, tendremos una platica para tejer la conexion entre todas las aguas del mundo. La proyeccion se ofrece en español con subtitulos en inglés. $5 tarifa de estacionamiento para cada vehiculo. Estacionamiento gratuito para miembros del FRGNC. [ENG] Join us for a free film screening of the documentary “Water for Life” to celebrate Latino Conservation Week. The film highlights three water defenders in Chile, Honduras and El Salvador. We will have a talk after the film to bridge connections between bodies of water across the world. The screening is offered in Spanish with English subtitles. $5 parking fee per vehicle FRGNC members park for free.

Habitat Helpers
Come join our staff and volunteers in a morning of habitat restoration. We will weed, water, and mulch. Meet at the group shelter outside the Education Building. Volunteers are responsible for knowing their own physical limitations, the safe usage of tools, and being aware of the environment. Please wear closed toe shoes and bring sun protection and a water bottle to refill. Water will be provided. See you there!

Leasburg Dam
STAR PROGRAM
Star show begins at SUNDOWN. Each month we open the Leasburg Dam Observatory to the public. Members of the Astronomical Society of Las Cruces operate a large 16" telescope as well as other telescopes just outside the observatory. Through these telescopes, you can see amazing deep space objects, such as: globular star clusters, planetary nebulae, distant planets and far away galaxies!
