Luminaria Beachwalk
Join us Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. for the annual Luminaria Beachwalk at Elephant Butte Lake State Park! There will be an Electric Light Boat Parade from Marina del Sur, folks can walk among bon-fires at 25 sites and see over 3,000 luminarias light up the beach! Vendors will provide posole, green chile stew, hot coffee, hot chocolate, cookies and sweets! There will be music and fun for the entire family! Dress warm.

Join us at the Visitor Center at Sugarite Canyon State Park for free cookies, hot chocolate and a chance to do some last-minute shopping for the nature-lover on your list! The Friends of Sugarite gift shop includes reasonably priced field guides, kids' books and stickers, coloring books, DVDs, wildlife pins, T-shirts and hats. Some items will be on sale. Bring the kids so they can become Junior Rangers. Bird lovers can participate in the 2021 Christmas Bird Count. Masks are required indoors for this event.

Bird enthusiasts are needed for this fourth annual Raton Christmas Bird Count, which includes the Sugarite Canyon State Park. It can be as easy as watching the bird feeder from inside the comfort of your own home, or counting birds at an assigned location. Participants must sign up for this event so results can be tallied.
