Cerrillos Hills
Birthday Burro Hike Join local burros for a special birthday hike to celebrate Cerrillos Hills State Park's 17th birthday! Ranger Brynn will guide you through 1,100 years of mining history and share about the historical significance of pack burros in the mountain west. The invitation is open to the public, local burros, and their handlers to join the fun! We will cover a 1.5-mile loop on Jane Calvin Sanchez Trial and the county road. Meet at the state park entrance. Expect some hiking uphill and varied surfaces ranging from sandy to rocky. Pack snacks, and water, and wear sturdy shoes. Dogs are not recommended to attend this hike.
