Coal Camp Hike and Ruins tour
Join our narrated tour and hike. Tucked into a remote canyon in northeastern New Mexico, Sugarite Coal Camp created a true melting pot for mostly immigrant miners slinging picks and shovels. Learn about the history of the Coal Mine and how it shaped the town of Raton, boosted local economies, provided energy for the nation, and brought diverse ethnic groups to northeast New Mexico and southern Colorado.

World Migratory Bird Day 2025
World Migratory Bird Day 2025 is celebrated on May 11. This day recognizes the migration of birds, during which they leave their homes and travel to other places in pursuit of food.
World Migratory Bird Day is important to raise awareness about the conservation of migratory birds, who travel long distances between breeding and non-breeding areas, often crossing countries and continents. These birds face numerous challenges during their journeys, such as habitat loss, climate change, and human-made obstacles.
