The main area of El Vado Lake State Park is open for Day Use (6a-9p) and camping. The Grassy Point and Elk Run campgrounds are open on a first come/first served and reservation only basis until the park closes for the winter season on December 1st. All dispersed/primitive camping areas except Hargrove's Recreation area are closed for the winter season (until mid May 2024).

Closures

A large-scale renovation project of El Vado Dam has forced the closure of the Day Use Area at El Vado Dam. Please stay clear of all construction areas. As a result of the ongoing repair work at the Dam, extremely low lake levels have left too little lake service to allow for motorboat operation. Also, angling, ice fishing, and swimming opportunities are all but nonexistent.
