Trail Closures-The Colin Neblett backcountry including Tolby and Maverick Trails are closed to all entry during deer fawning and elk calving May 15-July 31. Clear Creek Trail remains open May 15-July 31. The backcountry and ALL trails are closed during big game hunts as published in the NM Rules and Info Booklet. Licensed hunters and their hunting party are exempt from closures during their hunt/scouting period.

Blackjack campground will be closed from October 1st to May 1st.

Coyote Creek 575-387-2328
Coyote Creek Entrance Closure 06.18.2024 7:00am to 8:00pm. We want to inform you that the entrance area of Coyote Creek will be closed for paving on June 18, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. During this time, entry and exit will not be possible. In the event of an emergency, visitors will only be able to leave using pickup vehicles. Tow vehicles and trailers will not be able to exit through our emergency route. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Lakeview Trail from US Highway 64 to the Visitor Center will be close on Sunday, July 7th, 2024 due to the decommission of the lagoons. It is unknown when the trail will reopen.

Heron Lake is closed to the use of operation of all Off Highway Vehicles (OHV's). This includes but is not limited to Off Highway Motorcycles, Side-By Sides, Quad Runners, and Snowmobiles.

Rio Chama Trailhead and access to the Rio Chama Trail is closed due to construction in the area. Access to the Rio Chama River can be gained at the North El Vado Day Use Area.

Stage I Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited except in State Park developed camp and picnic grounds where grills and stoves are provided by the State Park.
