Announcements

Stage I Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited except in State Park developed camp and picnic grounds where grills and stoves are provided by the State Park. The use of devices fueled solely by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is allowed. Such devices can only be used in an area that is barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within three (3) feet

Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site/improved site, or while standing in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.

Heron Lake State Park is open for Day Use (6a-9p).

Muddy conditions persist on all unpaved areas of the park. Day use visitors are encouraged to be extremely cautious about taking vehicles off the pavement. Please park in designated areas only and access park amenities on foot whenever possible. Extractions and tow services are at the vehicle owners' expense.

Closures

Heron Lake is closed to the use of operation of all Off Highway Vehicles (OHV's). This includes but is not limited to Off Highway Motorcycles, Side-By Sides, Quad Runners, and Snowmobiles.

Rio Chama Trailhead and access to the Rio Chama Trail is closed due to construction in the area. Access to the Rio Chama River can be gained at the North El Vado Day Use Area.

Seasonal Closure: Ponderosa, Salmon Run, and Brushy Point. Reopens May 14th.
