Watch your Step! Avoid ice fishing near feeder streams or known springs, brush, logs, plants, or docks, multiple cracks or ice that is popping or otherwise audible and dark colored ice that may be weak. Ice spikes are recommended for self-rescue.

Keep Fishing holes small and few. It is unlawful to have holes larger than 12 inches. Bigger holes are not necessary to land fish and can create a safety hazard for others.

Be aware of and prepare for weather conditions. Dress in layers and wear thermal underwear, fleece or wool, and wind and waterproof outwear, especially for feet, hand, and head. Take extra clothes, food water, ect…

Identified ice hazard! On the west end of the lake there is thin ice located near the honey hole that stretches across the entire channel into a pressure ridge. Do NOT proceed beyond the cones or pressure ridge! Click on detailed attachment to view a picture.

Identified ice hazard! Near the point below the campground there is extremely thin beyond orange cones. The thin ice continues into a pressure ridge. Do not travel beyond the cones or attempt to cross the pressure ridge. Stay away from these areas! Click on detailed attachment to view a picture.

Return to parking areas before dark and have plenty of light to be able to identify and avoid hazardous ice conditions.

Daily hi temperatures averaged 33 degrees and the daily low temperatures averaged 1.33 degrees. Winds have reached over 10 miles per hour every day the last week

Ice fishing is currently opened to foot traffic only. No motorized equipment or vehicles are allowed. Ice thickness of 8-14 inches was measured on January 30th near the center of the lake. Ice conditions can change rapidly and all individuals on the ice are urged to use extreme caution as ice depths can very throughout the lake.

Stage I Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited except in State Park developed camp and picnic grounds where grills and stoves are provided by the State Park.

The use of devices fueled solely by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is allowed. Such devices can only be used in an area that is barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within three (3) feet of the device. Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site/improved site, or while standing in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
