DIRECTIONS: On Google Maps use “EV Charging Station” as your destination for the Visitor Center. Iphone maps app is correct by typing Caballo Lake State Park. If you end up at Smith Ranch, turnaround head south and make a left onto HWY 187 for six miles and Caballo Lake’s main entrance will be on the left side.

The Lakeside Recreational Area, which includes Comfort Stations at Stallion Campground, Appaloosa Campground and Palomino Campground, is set to undergo renovations, upgrades, and repairs to its water supply system. The project will begin on May 13th, 2024, with an anticipated completion date of June 26th, 2024. Throughout the project, there will be NO water supply available.

We strongly encourage you to utilize the Riverside Campground, located below Caballo Dam, to fill your holding tanks prior to arriving at Lakeside Recreational Area. The Riverside Campground has two sets of Comfort Stations with showers and washrooms. You can also utilize Percha Dam State Park to fill your holding tanks or to utilize the Comfort Stations. Stage I Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited except in State Park developed camp and picnic grounds where grills and stoves are provided by the State Park. However, campfires are allowed on the lake shoreline in areas cleared of flammable vegetation for at least 30 feet.

The use of devices fueled solely by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is allowed. Such devices can only be used in an area that is barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within three (3) feet of the device. Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site/improved site, or while standing in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
