12/20/2023 We have received your Remediation Closure Report for Incident #NAPP2300343390 PLU 28 BIG SINKS EAST TANK BATTERY, thank you. This Remediation Closure Report is approved. Areas reasonably needed for production or subsequent drilling operations will need to be reclaimed and revegetated as soon as they are no longer reasonably needed. A report for reclamation and revegetation including pictures of the contoured backfilled excavation surface and a thorough discussion on reseeding mixture, vegetation ratio, timelines, etc.., will need to be submitted and approved prior to this incident receiving the final status of "Restoration Complete".

06/21/2023 XTO is providing a Site update for PLU 28 Big Sinks East (Incident Number nAPP2300343390). The release was discovered on December 22, 2022 an extension request was approved through yesterday 6/20/23. Site assessment, delineation and excavation of impacted soil is completed, however, final laboratory analytical reports are pending, though expected to be received today, June 21, 2023. Once the final analytical data is received XTO will finalize the Closure Request detailing remediation work completed and submit to the NMOCD portal. XTO is requesting a 7 day extension to 6/27/2023 to finalize the report and submit to the portal.

The release was discovered on December 22, 2022. Initial site assessment activities and remediation activities have been ongoing and based on the most recent laboratory analytical reports, additional work is warranted. To complete additional remediation activities and submit a remediation work plan or closure report, XTO requests a 90-day extension of this deadline until June 20, 2023.

The cause of the release was reported as “A regulator valve on the main sales line froze, causing vessel to overpressure sending fluid out of the PRV. No fluids were recovered. A third-party contractor has been retained for remediation purposes”.
