Clayton Lake & Dinosaur Trackways	575-374-8808	Clayton Lake State Park and Dinosaur Trackway has closed access to the boat ramp and is prohibiting the use of motorized boats due to declining water levels and related safety concerns. The lake remains open for non-motorized vessels, including canoes and kayaks. Motorized boat access will be restored once water levels improve and conditions allow for safe use of the boat ramp.     Posting Dates: 7/31/2026 - 7/31/2999 Due to ongoing construction to replace vault toilets at Clayton Lake State Park & Dinosaur Trackways, the vault toilet facilities located at the dinosaur parking lot, Camp Cove, the South Loop, and the Rock Gardens will be closed. The comfort station, as well as the double vault toilets at North Point and along the Nature Trail, will remain open for visitor use. Elephant Butte Lake	(575) 744-5923	Please be advised that all boat ramps in the park are closed due to low water levels. We anticipate reopening when water levels increase, and conditions allow. Heron Lake	(575) 588-7470	All boat ramps (and courtesy docks) at Heron Lake State Park are currently unavailable for boaters due to extremely low lake levels. These ramps and docks will remain unavailable until lake levels improve. Those visitors planning to launch watercraft should call the park office to check for conditions prior to arriving.
